Roots in century-old clay laterals, grease in subdivision kitchen lines, storm water at the floor drain near the river. Each needs its own fix.
Around Main Street South, Park Avenue, Eagle and Srigley and the streets near Fairy Lake, homes from the late 1800s to the 1920s often still drain through clay laterals and cast iron under mature trees. Roots are the usual suspect there.
Glenway, Stonehaven, Woodland Hill and Summerhill, built through the 1980s and 1990s on plastic drain pipe, see kitchen grease and sagging lines instead. On the low streets by the Holland River, storm water at the floor drain is often no clog at all.
Our licensed plumbers come down Yonge from the AquaTec Plumbing shop in Holland Landing. See also plumbing services in Newmarket and drain cleaning across York Region.
When a same-day visit fits the schedule, it runs like this, with a written price before the cable goes in.
We run water at a few fixtures. One slow tub points to its own branch line; water rising at the floor drain as the washer empties means the main.
A basement cleanout is best. Otherwise we use a trap arm or lift a toilet, and tell you first, since access changes the job.
Hair on the head means a bathroom branch, grey fat the kitchen line, and fine roots the sewer lateral, which calls for the camera.
We fill the tub or run the washer and watch the lowest drain empty fast, with no gurgle, before we pack up.
In Glenway and Stonehaven, a kitchen drain that keeps slowing is usually grease stuck to the pipe wall. A snake bores a hole that soon closes; the jetter nozzle pulls itself up the line and scours the full circumference.
Jetting behind the cutter washes out the stubs and hair roots that regrow first. Old clay gets the camera before the jetter, because high pressure can make a broken pipe worse. Cost follows run length, access and the number of passes. More on hydro jetting and drain camera inspection.
The camera goes in on a push rod from the same access point while you watch the monitor. A counter shows how far out each joint, crack or belly sits; a belly is settled plastic pipe holding standing water.
A transmitter in the camera head lets us find the spot from above, mark it and note the rough depth, which also shows which side of the property line the fault is on.
An offset or cracked joint between lengths of sound pipe is a spot repair: one excavation, the bad length cut out, new pipe coupled in.
Clay cracked in several places or rooted end to end is replaced from the foundation wall toward the property line.
Utility locates come first, the trench avoids big tree roots where the line allows, and your drains stay out of use meanwhile.
Depth, pipe length and what sits on top: lawn, interlock, driveway or a tree. See sewer line repair and replacement.
Restaurant and café kitchens along Main Street and the Yonge and Davis corridor send grease down daily, and the floor drain backs up first. Scheduled jetting keeps the line open; the camera shows how fast grease returns, and that sets the interval.
Shop drains extended as tenants changed get a camera look before we quote. Work can be booked outside trading hours, and a full grease interceptor is flagged for your pumping contractor. See commercial plumbing for Newmarket businesses.
