A sink that drains slowly today is often a sink that will not drain at all tomorrow. We clear clogged kitchen and bathroom sinks fast and make sure the clog does not come right back.
A clogged kitchen sink is one of the most common, and most disruptive, calls we get from homes across York Region. Years of grease, food particles, and coffee grounds build up inside the trap and drain line until water stops moving altogether. We clear the blockage completely, run a full sink of water through the line to confirm it drains, and tell you what caused it.
Bathroom sinks clog differently: hair, soap scum, and toothpaste residue usually collect in the trap and just past it. It is a quick fix for us, but one that is easy to get wrong with store-bought drain chemicals, which can damage older pipes without ever clearing the real blockage.
If your sink is draining slowly, gurgling, or backing up into the other side of a double basin, that is worth a call before it becomes a full clog. We will clear it, explain what caused it, and tell you honestly whether it is a one-time fix or a sign that the drain line needs a closer look. If more than one fixture is slow at once, that is usually a main line clog rather than a sink problem. For tubs, showers, and floor drains, see our drain cleaning service. Our guide explains why a drain keeps clogging.
Hard municipal water across much of York Region leaves soap scum that grease sticks to, so kitchen clogs here often come back unless the line is fully cleared. In older homes in Thornhill, North York, and Aurora, we often find corroded metal trap arms and drain branches that have narrowed over time; when cabling will not hold, we tell you and quote replacing that section rather than repeating the cleaning.
A sink that drains slowly shows us where the buildup is collecting while the line still moves, and that is the easiest time to clear it completely.
What our technician actually does at a clogged sink, and what changes the price.
A kitchen trap packed with grease tells us the clog is local. A clean trap with water standing behind it means the blockage is in the trap arm or the branch line inside the wall. On a double basin we check the baffle tee and the garburator or dishwasher connection, because that junction catches food before the trap does.
We clean the trap and trap arm by hand. Anything past the wall gets a hand auger or a small drum machine, fed through the trap arm or the cleanout and run until the cable comes back clean and the line takes a full sink without hesitating.
We put new slip washers on the trap and check the tailpiece and any dishwasher hose. Then we fill the sink (both basins on a double sink) and let it drain all at once. If it gurgles or hesitates under that load, the problem is further down and you hear it from us before we leave, not after the next clog.
You get the cause in plain terms and a written price for anything further before we do it. Price depends on whether the clog cleared at the trap or the branch line had to be cabled, whether a corroded trap or trap arm had to be replaced, whether access is limited by a pedestal or wall-hung vanity, and whether a camera is warranted.
