A toilet that clogs repeatedly is more than a nuisance, it can point to a partial blockage further down the drain line (see our drain cleaning service), a worn flush mechanism not generating enough force, or outdated low-flow components. We clear the clog, then check whether the toilet itself or the line behind it is the real cause.
Running toilets, weak flushes, and leaks at the base or tank are among the most common water-wasting issues we see. Often it is a worn flapper, an out-of-adjustment fill valve, or a failing wax ring, small parts that cause big water bills when left alone. We diagnose the actual cause and fix it, rather than guessing with a parts swap.
And when it is time for something new, a more efficient model, a comfort-height upgrade, or a full bathroom renovation, we handle complete toilet installation and replacement, set level and sealed correctly the first time, completed to code.
On a replacement we shut off the supply, drain and lift the old toilet, scrape off the old wax, check the flange and the floor around it, set the new toilet on a fresh seal, fit a new supply line, replace the shut-off if it is an old multi-turn valve that no longer closes, and flush repeatedly while checking the base and connections.
Besides the toilet you choose, the price depends on what we find underneath: a cracked flange, a soft floor, a seized shut-off, or a rough-in that limits which models fit. We give you a written price once we have looked.
Older houses and odd rough-ins. In older homes the drain is not always the standard 12 inches from the wall, so we measure before recommending a replacement model and avoid a second trip.
Cast iron flanges and soft floors. In post-war Thornhill and North York homes and the older Newmarket and Aurora cores, a toilet that has rocked or seeped at the base for a while often sits on a cracked cast iron flange and softened subfloor. We tell you before setting a new toilet, because that repair is what stops the leak coming back.
Septic homes. On properties with septic in King City, Stouffville, rural Georgina and East Gwillimbury, a running toilet sends a steady stream of water into a bed that was never sized for it, so it is worth fixing promptly.
Hard water and seasonal homes. Hard municipal and well water wears fill valves and flappers early, and toilets in winterized cottages around Keswick and Georgina need their seals checked at spring opening.
